DC Bound
It is Saturday, April 19th, 2025. It is day 15 of my trip, and I am just outside of Washington, DC.
I’ve been thinking …… for my first video, it will be about everything I have done wrong — you know, the stuff no one tells you about, like the hills and lack of stores on this particular route.
I made a lot of mistakes, and I think it’s better to post about them before I set off on the TransAmerican Bicycle Trail, as mapped by the Adventure Cycling Association. No one wants to tarnish the infamous TransAm and its legacy.
Anyway, this was just a quick update. I think I am done recharging my batteries. I need to push on and find my next stop (stealth campsite).
Stealth Camping? That is camping where there is no campground, and there are no services such as water or a bathroom, either. I typically stealth camp on land where there are no signs about trespassing.
Last night’s stealth campsite was a bit loud. I enjoyed the sounds of cars and ATVs as I took refuge in the hillside of a roundabout. The ATVs were a mere 100 feet away from my tent on the trails created by the roundabout’s construction. I like stealth camping around such roadway features, as there is plenty of light and fewer critters to contend with.
Speaking of critters, two nights ago, while stealth camping on a rail trail, I was getting kidney punched by raccoons looking for food. Well, they were not actually punching me. They were pushing the sides of my tent, which happened to be in that location of my body. You would have figured they would have stopped after the first time as I yelled at them. Nope! They did it twice.
Until I post again ……. have a great day!
